Who Am I?
My name is Chris Jennings. I’ve grown up with technology. I’ve worked at tech startups, digital marketing agencies, and online education companies. I have a Master’s Degree in Integrated Marketing Communications. I’ve seen every digital fad and technology trend over the past three decades and I’ve learned how to have fun with my technology while staying mindful and productive.
What is Iterate All About?
Iterate is a resource to help people develop a healthy relationship with the technology that they use every day. I’m not advocating for less technology, but I am educating people on how to be more mindful and intentional with the software and devices they’re using. With a few minor tweaks, you can limit your screen time while opening up several hours per day for life’s most important things. But as the name implies, this newsletter will evolve and change. I think it’s safe to say that technology, learning, and self-improvement will be at the basis of everything I write, but we’ll go in some unpredictable directions as well.
What makes me special?
I’ve lived in the Silicon Valley tech bubble for over a decade. I’ve seen technology get smaller, faster, and more intelligent. So why is it still ruling our lives? I worked on a show that gave viewers app recommendations to make their lives easier. I worked at an EdTech Startup that let people learn any topic for free through live, interactive video. Best-selling authors and entrepreneurs worked with me to develop these courses and I learned a ton on the subject. Iterate gives me an outlet to share some of this knowledge and inject my personal opinions to allow you to draw your own conclusions.
Who should read this?
Besides my friends and family who really have no choice in the matter, I’m trying to reach people who have also grown up with technology but feel that it is overrunning their lives in a negative way. You don’t want to give up your digital toys but you do want to use them in a more mindful way to free up time for more important things in life. What are these more important things? Maybe side hustles, lifelong learning, reading, spending time with family, exercise, meditation & mental well-being, achieving financial freedom…just to name a few.
What promises do I make?
I promise to provide valuable content that is based on my own personal experiences. I won’t give advice that I don’t follow myself. I promise to be an ongoing resource for people who have just had enough of the way technology has taken over our lives. There won’t be any clickbait or fluff content. Every topic is well-thought-out and is intended as a thought starter to further dialogue.
Thanks for reading! Tell your friends!
