This is great. Thanks, Chris! I'm doing a lot more commuting by bike these days. But have been lugging everything in a backpack. Do you happen to have a recommendation for a rear rack that would work on an older road bike?
Glad you enjoyed it Sam! The backpack can certainly get the job done but it's way more comfortable if you can offload some of that gear to a pannier or basket, especially when the weather heats up. There are lots of solid options that can fit a variety of road bike dimensions. I had good luck with a rack from Topeak on my old bike. Something along the lines of this one https://amzn.to/48l9Rr8 could work well for you. The adjustable stainless steel extenders give you some flexibility. You can probably install it fine yourself, but I had the guys at Laurel Cyclery in Oakland install it for me when they were doing some other work on my bike for reassurance. It got their seal of approval and safely carried my gear and daughter in a kid seat until she was probably 30 lbs. and I felt safer on a beefier rack that was integrated into the frame. Hope that helps. Happy cycling!
