This week we're looking at Substack's potential troubles, Tackling 7 Core Skills with Caveday, Wild workouts with Neon Buffalo, In-person concert tickets, and The Looking Glass!
I heard about the problems about Substack before. That's one reason or fears why I use my own self-hosted blog connected to Mailgun instead of any SaaS.
I can recommend doing this because a server only costs around 3$ and deploying your own blog is doable in ~15 minutes. There are really good open-source alternatives: Ghost (that's what I use), WordPress, Bludit, etc.
I guess the only problem will be the impact of SEO but as you already have many subscriber, they will help you with this :)
You're totally right Paul. I did use Wordpress for a long time but just got sick of all the updates and the efforts it took to reduce spam. I did use Ghost for a project over the course of a few months and was generally pleased with the experience and would maybe use it again. It just has a bit more of an upfront cost than Substack and while the customization options are great, it adds a layer of complexity that I don't really need right now. We'll see how things go for Substack over the next few months, but it's good to have options!
Yes, the layer of complexity is not always good. But, you also have more freedom to switch between services or replace annoying features with cool ones :)

Another great edition. Loved the Einstein quote!
Thanks so much Punit!
